Winter holiday in Damüls

Glistening snow and beautiful trails

From December to April, the Damüls-Faschina region is transformed into a quiet snow paradise. The narrow tracks, cross-country ski loipen and trails are perfect for discovering the landscape in your Vorarlberg winter holiday and exploring the Hohes Licht mountain away from the ski pistes.

Cross-country skiing

Glide across the snow-covered landscape

Enjoy being surrounded by untouched nature, tranquillity and improve your fitness at the same time: Cross-country skiing really has many benefits. In Damüls you have two panoramic cross-country skiing trails at altitudes of 1,500 and 1,700 metres to ski along.

The “Unterdamüls” loipe starts between the Kirchdorf and Oberdamüls. After three kilometres across flat terrain you reach the Alpe Unterdamüls. Continuing along the same stretch, you return to your starting point after another three kilometres.

If you choose the “Stofel” loipe, you’ll be starting in Oberdamüls. This is designed as a circular trail and can also be skied in skating style. There are also some steep sections along the 5-kilometres trail.

We would be delighted to give you detailed information about the cross-country skiing trails when you arrive at our Hotel Hohes Licht.

Tobogganing

Have plenty of fun whooshing down the valley

A toboggan ride during your Vorarlberg winter holiday makes the eyes of young and young-at-heart sparkle with delight. So: Hire a toboggan and speed off for an exciting adventure!

The Uga-Express cable car, which is located right next to the Hotel Hohes Licht, will bring you comfortably to the mountain station and the starting point of the Rodelbahn Uga. You will hurtle with momentum along the 2.5 metres long track, around several curves down the Uga slope down into the valley. This natural toboggan run is prepared daily and therefore in excellent condition, thereby meeting all safety requirements.

Do you fancy trying a special toboggan experience? On Wednesday and Friday evenings, the track is illuminated and open for night tobogganing.

Snowshoe hiking

Set foot in an untouched blanket of snow

Guaranteed high level of snow, numerous signed routes and available blankets of snow: It’s no wonder that the Damüls mountain landscape surrounding the Hohes Licht is very popular with snow shoe walkers.

It’s quick to learn the technique of walking with the seemingly bulky snow shoes, making it possible to ramble across routes that would be impossible to master with normal walking shoes.

Both beginners and more advanced snowshoe fans will find numerous snow shoe routes in the Bregenzerwald and the biosphere park of Großes Walsertal. And if you want to leave your own trails behind, you are welcome to leave the marked paths and wander step by step in untouched nature.
